Exercising without Exercise.

I wanted to be more active and get fitter but I felt I never had enough confidence. I felt too large to go to the fitness classes at the Gym. I couldn’t run as my joints would hurt and I would easily get out of breath and I felt too embarrassed. I was at a loss about what to do? Then one of my friends suggested simply walking. Working in a care home sometimes I’d sit around watching TV all day with my Client when he was sick and bed bound. As I drove everywhere, it never even crossed my mind to put one foot in front of the other to get away from the sofas. So I Started out with small walks at first, Around the block and to my local convenience store whenever I had the chance. Then I started to walk to and from work, I’d walk around the local park and then I would plan a day around a full days walk. Before I knew it I was walking longer and longer and my fitness was getting better. At one point I realized I was exercising without “exercise”. It didn’t feel like hard work either, like going to the Gym would feel, It felt like it was the most natural thing in the world to do. The miles I’ve covered walking have really helped me lose the pounds. So any chance now to walk I grab with both feet.
